”Psychic Secrets Revealed!”
P.T Barnum
The psychic trade is similar to the magician’s trade. It’s all done with tricks. You don’t need any real psychic powers to convince almost anyone of your amazing psychic gift, if you know the secrets.
The single most dependable and effective trick in the psychic’s bag is the Barnum statement. These are statements that for some odd reason most people accept as accurate and insightful; even though they are so vague and unspecific they could easily apply to virtually anyone.
Because they’re so incredibly effective, these powerful statements are used in every kind of mentalist or psychic display. Without them most psychics would quickly be shown to be inauthentic.
Here’s an example: Take a look at this statement:
“You hide behind a mask of bravery when dealing with the world, but behind your mask, you’re an extremely sensitive and emotional person.”
The first thing you might notice is that the whole statement is incredibly vague. It really doesn’t say much with any degree of specificity.
But when a statement like this is delivered within the context of a psychic reading, well over 90% of people will eagerly embrace it as both true and personally relevant to their own lives. They’ll find it highly accurate and truthful despite its broad and generalized content.
If you’ve never used a Barnum statement get ready to be shocked at how incredibly effective they are. It never fails to amaze me to watch a client’s eyes light up when I hand them one of these tired old lines. They work like magic even though they’re essentially meaningless!
In my guide I’ll give you a full list of the 72 best and most effective, time-proven Barnum statements that you can use yourself. From the list you can select those you find most appealing and useful.
The guide also provides 164 psychic prediction statements that have been proven to be the very best, most convincing predictions with any client.
The Five Girls Experiment
One psychological researcher came up with an interesting experiment that shows just how devastatingly effective Barnum statements can be.
He went to six different countries and in each he paid five young college-aged ladies to participate in a special test.
He handed them each an envelope and told them that inside was a custom made, unique personality evaluation report. He said that for some months he had been hiring private investigators to look into their lives and then what they discovered was given to a famous psychologist who used it to prepare their highly personalized evaluations.
The girls were told to read their evaluations and then grade them for accuracy. One rule though – they each had to read their individualized personality evaluation alone, and weren’t allowed to discuss them with any of the other ladies in the group.
After each lady had read her own analysis, she was asked to rate its accuracy by giving it a numerical score of between one and one hundred. All of the ladies rated their evaluations as being highly accurate and gave them an 85-100% accuracy rating. Half of the ratings were even higher - over 95%.
Then came the shocker – the girls were instructed to hand their evaluations to the girl to their left. The girls were stunned to discover that all of the evaluations were exactly the same!
There were no private investigators or psychologists involved. The girls laughed and laughed at how incredibly gullible they had been in thinking that the evaluations seemed highly relevant to their personal lives.
This study proves just how eager people are to believe statements about themselves. One scientist who studied this effect labeled it the “Forer Effect”.
The Forer Effect shows how readily people will make unrealistic connections between statements about themselves and their own personal characteristics. In short, the statements will in most cases ring very true in the client’s eyes even though they obviously apply to most everyone alive!
The Forer Effect not only explains the entire psychic industry but also the extraordinary popularity of the astrology/horoscope industry. If you read the daily horoscope in your local paper (as millions do every day), you’ll find a list of Barnum statements that are so general in nature that they might apply to anyone but despite their general nature they’re happily accepted by a broad swath of the population.
Psychic Secret #1 - “Barnum Statements”
Psychic Secret #2 - “Rainbow Statements
Here’s another extremely useful class of statements that are essentially meaningless but still manage to shock and amaze clients.
A rainbow statement is a statement that has two sides. It says something and then turns around and says just the opposite. There’s something about the contrast between the two statements that clients seem to accept and openly embrace. The statements don’t really say anything, yet once again clients will find them exciting and pregnant with deep personal insights.
A typical rainbow statement goes something like this:
“You’re usually careful with money, but occasionally you overspend and later you regret it.”
Or try this one:
“Most of the time you’re cheerful and positive but there have been times in the past when you were upset and felt very down.”
Once again, we’re dealing with vague and contradictory statements that could apply to almost anyone. Certainly, most everyone would agree with the statement that they are careful with money.
And it’s equally true that all of us overspend now and again. It’s part of being human – we all do it.
Psychic Secret #3 - Psychic Health Tricks
During a reading you offer this:
“I see that you’ve suffered some
back problems in the past.”
Here is another statement that applies to almost any human being who has ever lived past the age of 30.
According to the American Chiropractic Association 31 million Americans (over 10% of our population) has back pain at any given time. And over their life times 80% of Americans have experienced significant back pain problems. In fact, back pain is the second most popular reason for missing work and the third most common reason for physician’s visits.
Almost anyone will have experienced back problems at some point in their past. It’s so very easy to overstress our backs which can lead to a painful period of recovery. (Overweight people are particularly susceptible having to back problems.)
I’ve experienced back pain after playing softball with my company team on a weekend. Lifting and loading boxes during a move from one residence to another has had be gulping down pain pills for a few days.
Ever notice how many chiropractors we have in this country? They do a thriving business because so many of us have “back problems”. So this statement will almost always have a positive effect.
Using Extremely Common Diseases
Here’s another sneaky psychic trick even the biggest, most famous psychics use on a regular basis. Knowing about common fatal diseases and medical problems can come in very useful.
When very old people die, the doctor never records the cause of death on the official death certificate as “old age”. Instead, they most often use the more specific medical terms of “heart failure” or more often “congestive heart failure”.
These are extremely common causes of death. Everyone who works in health care knows this very well, but few outside the field are aware of this fact.
According to the Centers for Disease Control heart disease kills over 616,000 Americans each year and is the single leading cause of death in the U.S.
So, when a famous psychic wanders over to one part of the audience and proudly predicts “someone here lost an elderly loved one to congestive heart failure” it should come as no surprise that several dozen hands will instantly shoot up. The psychic is simply taking full advantage of the audience’s ignorance.
If you mention those in a statement, odds are you’ll come out on top.
Psychic Secret #4 - The “Will” Trick
A psychic offers the following “How does Will enter into this?”
This is one of the oldest psychic tricks in the book. It’s kind of like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat - it’s that old.
The secret lies in the fact that this one word “Will” has several different meanings so when you say the word to a client, their mind will face trying to find a connection to their lives and since the word has so many meanings, they’ll probably come up with a connection of some sort.
The first meaning has to do with a man’s name such as Will or William. Then there are many towns and cities that have Will in their name such as Williamsburg, Williamstown, or Williston.
Then there’s the other issue – the last Will and Testament that dead people leave behind. Or it might refer to someone’s intention to do something – their “will” to do something.
So many different meanings almost assures you that your client will find some sort of link and you’ll look like real genius!
Psychic Secret #5 - Psychic Name Tricks
If a client mentions anything about a female loved one born during the 1970s and or the 1980s you can use this information to your advantage. Did you know that the most popular female first names given back then were Michelle, Melissa and Nicole?
If a client mentions a daughter or other female relative born around that period you can ask “Who’s Melissa?” (Notice that I said who’s not who IS or who WAS. “Who’s” covers both who is and who was which is important here as we may or may not be talking about a deceased person. By using who’s were covering both bases.)
Either the relative themselves had that name (about a 20% chance) or what is much more likely, they had a close friend (or two or three) with that same name. This is a high probability, educated guess that more often than not hits the target.
Professional psychics routinely memorize entire lists of the most popular men’s and women’s names for each decade in the past.
Did you know that in 2009 the top male baby names were Jacob, Ethan, Michael, Alexander and William? And the most popular female names were Isabella, Emma, Olivia, Sophia and Ava.
Here is an obvious psychic trick used by almost every psychic I’ve ever known. A psychic will approach a group or this can also be used in a private reading – and predict that someone has lost a male relative whose first name begins with the letter “J”.
What a startling prediction! But wait a moment. Come to think about it, there are a lot of men’s names in our culture that begin with J. Here’s a list of only 30 and I’ll bet you can come up with a few more.
James, John, Jacob, Jesse, Jack, Jacques, Jake, Jamie, Jan, Jarad, Jarett, Jarod, Jason, Javier, Jay, Jean, Jed, Jeff, Jeffery, Jerry, Jerome, Jordan, Jose, Josh, Joshua, Judd, Jude, Julian, Julius, Justin
So, pardon me but with such a long, long list of names, predicting that someone’s name begins with J is like predicting that someone here brushed their teeth this morning! The odds are excellent! But as usual, if you use this trick, you’ll come out looking like psychic star!
In my guide you get 72 Powerful Barnum Statements, a list of the most popular first names of each decade, a step-by-step script for conducting your first psychic reading and exactly why people seek out psychics and more.
In short, you get everything you need to become a professional psychic yourself! It’s easy - if you know the secrets!
